Women in the military — For more than 3000 years in a number of societies and countries, women have assumed numerous roles in the military, from early warrior women, to the women presently serving in clashes, in spite of the fact that the majority of soldiers in most societies have been men.Despite the fact that women serving in the military has frequently been disputed, a small number of women in history have battled with men. In the American Civil War, there were a couple of women who cross-dressed as men. Battling on the battlefront in masks was, by all accounts, not the only way women included themselves in war. Some also served as medical attendants and helpers. From the 1970s, most Western armed forces began to allow women to serve in all branches of the military.
