Korean Riot Police Use Ancient Roman Tactics in Training — Very Interesting! The Korean Riot Police is part of the National Korean Police Agency – it is their anti riot paramilitary unit, comprising military recruits. Its personnel are involved in intelligence gathering and riot policing. The group was set up in 1967, during the Third Korean Republic. Every unit is connected to a metropolitan police organization in the nation. In their riot gear, they are identified by the number on their riot shield (the shield is metal), e.g.,1001″ or “1011”. The number is also present on their caps with the N.P.A symbol. At the current time, the police use powerful water cannons and cutting edge clear plastic shields to minimize injuries to civilians. Each police officer who wants to join the Riot Police must undergo two weeks of training.
