The video is a tour of manufacturers CCI and Speer, who showed how 22LR ammunition is made in their factories. 22plinkster introduces Bill, head of operations, who has invited him to look at how rimfire and centerfire ammunition is made.

The plant has been there since 1951, so it just celebrated its 65th birthday. Inside, there is plenty of noise from all the machinery. They start with the first step, which is making a cup. Bill explains that brass is shipped in from a supplier, then is ran through the cupper. The webbing is recycled back. The brass goes through the blanking process and through a dye to form a cup.

The next step is the annealing process, as the cups have residuals on them so they go through a wash. Then they go through the drying process, where they are bounced off a table and onto a heater so excess water is removed.

Next the cup is formed into the diameter needed for 22 ammunition in the pin strip process. Next comes another wash and dry, then the headers put the heads in that contains a priming mix that will ignite the cartridge, along with a stamp of their logo. Now that the CCI case is finished, loading comes next.

Then comes charging, where plates are placed in an exacting process. The pellets are then put through a spinning process so that the priming mix is evenly distributed, and go back for quality control. Then the pellets are dried and go through propellant charging, where they are kept in a cell for safety measures.

Bullet seating is next, then finishing. The bullets then go through a waxing process before getting ready for packing. The waxed cartridges are packed into boxes then onto pallets.

They go to bullets, where Bill says it starts with lead, which comes from an external supplier. The lead goes through melt pots to remove contaminants or debris, then cast to make the bullet core. Then they are washed, dried and cut into slugs that will be made into rimfire ammunition. The slugs get lubricated then go through a header. The bullets either become black lead or plated bullets. The slugs then go through plating to get a copper jacket put on the lead.

22plinkster says that the tour was a dream, and that he had no idea there was so much work that went into making ammunition. He congratulates Bill on the quality of their products and on their excellent workers, saying that they have a good operation in place.
