The video is a review on the CZ Scorpion EVO 3 S1 9mm Carbine. He says it’s the most fun he’s had at the range in a while, shooting this gun, as it is light and easy to handle with mild recoil.

He begins by saying that the Czech Republic is legendary in their weapons making, with many good designs. The CZ EVO 3 was inspired by the original CZ Scorpion in 32 ACP and the military wanted to move up to the 9mm. It is made of the design as the full automatics, is tough and robust, made almost entirely of polymer, very solid and has a proven track record. The EVO 3 has been in service in the Czech army, and has only recently entered the US market.

The EVO 3 carbine is a neat, pistol-caliber carbine with all-steel parts, made to shoot fully automatic but is actually a semi-automatic. The carbine comes in two configurations: one with the SilencerCo suppressor that fits over the barrel, and the regular pencil barrel with the muzzle break. It has a folding stock, a non-reciprocating charging handle, blowback design, a last round bolt hold open and bolt release.

He takes the carbine out for some practice rounds then says accuracy at 50 yards showed two tight groups. The front of the gun has slots for M-LOK accessories, and a Picatinny rail, has aluminum sights both front and back with adjustable windage an elevation, and serrations on the sights to take the glare off. There’s a rubber butt pad and a slight adjustment for length of pull. There are ambidextrous controls, which can cause a bit of discomfort.

The CZ magazines are easy to find and plentiful, and can be bought at cheap prices. There’s a sling mount for attachments, too. At the range, there were no malfunctions, and worked great. The accuracy was excellent, stayed on target, not much recoil but the bolt coming back had some force, but it wasn’t too bad. Rapid fire was easy and the sights worked well. The folding stock made it a good, compact package that deploys easily.

Disassembly and assembly is easy enough, if you follow instructions. Overall, this is a pretty good carbine, lightweight, accurate and reliable.
