In this episode, The Late Boy Scout interviews Sean from Olight at the SHOT Show 2017 in Las Vegas. Olight was established in 2006. It is a manufacturer of high quality illumination tools. After breaking out in the outdoor and flashlight enthusiast markets in Europe, Olight turned its focus on to the tactical market. They also design products tailored to meet the needs of law enforcement and government agencies.

Sean talks about the PL12 with 450 lumens. It’s been out for a couple of months. They have a newer model set to come out soon that they’re excited about, which is the PL2 with 1300 lumens on 20123 batteries. It’s the highest output pistol light on the market. The way the modes work are: (1) If you do a quick tap, it gives you constant light; (2) If you hold it, it gives momentary light. It doesn’t matter how long you hold, it will be on as long as you want it to be; and (3) If you hit both sides, it takes you to strobe.

The biggest hit at Shot Show was their PL Mini with 400 lumens. It’s tiny and has an internal proprietary battery, but that’s okay because they have a magnetic charging system, which Olight is known for.

Olight also has the PL1 LS, which is coming out in the next couple of months. It’s a larger model with 500 lumens for the main light and it has a green laser. There are a number of modes, including main light plus laser, main light only, laser only, and strobe light plus laser.

All three aforementioned products are coming out in the next couple of months. Sean also talks about some non-weapon lights, like their headlamps, handheld flashlights, and more. Olight is committed to delivering cutting-edge products to maintain their status as a forerunner in the illumination tool market.
