Multinational NATO Military Forces In Intense Urban Combat Warfare Training During Anaconda 2016

NATO military forces from around the world conduct intensive urban combat warfare training during the 2016 exercise Anaconda as a response to increasing concerns on Russia’s aggressiveness and recent military actions, including the now-infamous incident of buzzing the USS Donald Cook in the Baltic Sea.

The video shows footage of American, Polish, British and Turkish soldiers during the mass NATO military exercises. Called the “largest war game in eastern Europe,” the event shows soldiers infiltrating areas via ground and air with helicopters, running across mock combat areas while grenades explode and smoke is in the air, fast-roping into combat training zones and simulating firefights, as NATO and Russian officials invited to join the exercises look on.

Exercise Anaconda 2016 (AN16) is one of the premiere multinational training events in Europe. Held in Poland, AN16 seeks to train, exercise and integrate Polish national command and create a joint, unified, multinational environment.

The exercise further supports assurance and deterrence measures by demonstrating the Allied capabilities to deploy, amass and sustain combat power, and to test responses to military, chemical ad cyber threats.

The exercise stretched over 10 days and involved more than 31,000 soldiers from 24 countries, including Albania, Bulgaria, Canada, Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Turkey, the United Kingdom and the United States.

This is said to be the biggest movement of foreign allied troops in Poland after the war, and for the first time since the occupation of Poland ended in 1941, German tanks will be able to cross the country. The exercises are being managed by Poland’s Lieutenant General Mare Tomaszycki.

The military exercises have been warned to be careful, as any mishaps might be construed by Russia to be acts of aggression, according to defense officials in Warsaw.
