The Eurofighter Typhoon is a twin-engine, canard-delta wing, multirole fighter. It was designed and manufactured by Alenia Aermacchi, Airbus Group. and BAE Systems starting around 1986. The project is currently managed by its primary customer, the NATO Eurofighter and Tornado Management Agency. Development was actually started back in 1983 as a collaborative effort of five countries, but infighting and disagreements led to France withdrawing from the group. As the Cold War ended, the need for these types of aircraft was called into question, which extended their already lengthy development cycle. Still, what resulted was an highly agile aircraft that is extremely effective in dogfights with other aircraft. Real-life combat first took place in 2011 in a military intervention in Libya, but they still seem to spend most of their time in domestic defense duties for the majority of the countries which use it.
