VFA-137 Kestrels in action – Strike Fighter Squadron 137, also known as the “Kestrels” after the local North American Falcon, was set up on July 2, 1985. They got their first Lot VIII F/A-18A Hornet in 1985 and in  1986 the squadron was honored the Silver Anchor for new developed squadrons. Strike Fighter Squadron 137 (VFA-137), otherwise called the “Kestrels”, are a United States Navy F/A-18E Super Hornet strike contender squadron positioned at Naval Air Station Lemoore. The Squadron Radio call sign is The Falcons. Their main mission is to train to and, if important, conduct instant, managed battle operations in backing of national arrangement, anyplace, and in any time
